How Playlists Work

AI MUSIC JUDGE playlists come in two types: user-created playlists you build freely, and AI Curated playlists the site auto-generates daily. This page explains how each works, the update rules, and how to use them.

Two Types of Playlists

AI Curated

Updated daily at 03:00 JSTAuto-generated by the site

3 playlists auto-curated by the site using AI judge scores and divergence tags. Always fresh with the tracks you should listen to right now.

User Playlists

On creation onlyManually edited by users

Anyone can create one. Save tracks from their detail pages, reorder them, and choose public or private. Premium users can also issue share links.

Inside the 3 AI Curated Playlists

Only tracks submitted in the past 14 days are eligible. Each playlist uses a different evaluation axis, and duplicates across lists are intentional (a track appearing in multiple lists is by design).

playlists.form.aboutSubheadTop10

  • Criteria: last 14 days · s1_ai_score IS NOT NULL · public · status done
  • Sort: S1 average score (Dr. Takano, KENJI, Tanaka, Rina) descending
  • The site's primary overall ranking top tracks, presented in a listenable playlist format.

playlists.form.aboutSubheadAllAgree

  • Criteria: last 14 days · divergence_tag = 'all-agree' (both AI and human 80+ pts)
  • Sort: AI average score descending
  • The "no controversy, safe to recommend to anyone" slot.

playlists.form.aboutSubheadChaos

  • Criteria: last 14 days · divergence_tag = 'problem-work' (both AI and human 40 pts or below)
  • Sort: play count descending (= how much buzz it generated)
  • The novelty slot. Tracks with strong character that sparked debate.

When AI Curated Playlists Update

playlists.form.aboutUpdateTimingDesc

If your favorite track makes it into the AI Top Picks, we recommend screenshotting the moment — it may rotate out by the next day.

How to Create a User Playlist

  • Create new: /playlists/new . Title required (max 50 chars), description optional (max 200 chars). Choose public or private.
  • Add tracks: Use the Save button on each track's detail page to add it to any of your playlists.
  • Reorder: On the detail page, drag the left edge of a track row to reorder it (owner only).
  • Play all: The Play All button loads all tracks into the GlobalPlayer and plays them top to bottom continuously.
  • Edit: Use the gear icon in the top-right to open a modal for editing title, description, visibility, cover image, or deleting the playlist.

How Cover Images Work

Priority Order

  • 1. Manually uploaded image (PNG/JPG, max 2MB, 1:1 recommended)
  • 2. Auto-mosaic of the first 4 tracks' thumbnails in a 2×2 grid
  • 3. When there are 1–3 tracks, the first thumbnail is shown full-size
  • 4. If none of the above apply, a ♪ icon placeholder is shown

You can revert to the auto-mosaic at any time using the Reset to auto-mosaic button. The mosaic updates automatically whenever tracks are added or removed.

Like Feature

What ♥ Like Does

A bookmark-like feature for logged-in users on others' public playlists. Tap again to unlike. Like count directly determines the sort order in the Popular tab (like_count desc).

  • You cannot Like your own playlists (the Like button is hidden)
  • AI Curated playlists can also be Liked (acts as a popularity vote)
  • Like count is shown as ♥ N on the playlist detail page and cards

Public vs. Private

Public
  • Appears in /playlists listings (Popular & New)
  • Included in sitemap · OG image supported
  • Anyone can view and Like
Private
  • Excluded from listings · not indexed by search engines
  • Viewable by owner only
  • Cannot be opened even via a share link (Premium)

You can toggle public/private at any time after creation. A "create now, publish when ready" workflow is easy to manage.

Sharing

Just paste the URL

playlists.form.aboutShareDesc

  • OG image uses the cover image if set, otherwise generates the auto-mosaic
  • AI Curated playlists include a ✨ AI CURATED badge in the OG image
  • Add ?lang=en to switch to English title and English OG image

FAQ

Q. The AI Curated chaos playlist is empty.

The playlist is empty when no tracks with divergence_tag = 'problem-work' exist within the past 14 days. It will fill automatically in the next day's cron run as qualifying tracks accumulate.

Q. Is there a track limit per playlist?

There is no hard limit currently, but for good UX we suggest keeping it to around 30–50 tracks. The Play All feature uses sequential preloading, so even very long playlists won't crash the client.

Q. I want to copy someone else's playlist for myself.

Copy is not yet implemented. If there's demand we'll add it — please let us know via the contact form.

Q. Can the AI Curated logic be changed?

Currently fixed at 3 types (S1 top / all-agree / problem-work), but there's plenty of room to add genre-specific TOPs / seasonal or time-of-day themes / Premium-exclusive curation. Share your ideas as feedback.

Q. What happens if I delete my playlist?

The playlist and all linked records (playlist_tracks, playlist_likes) are permanently deleted. The tracks themselves are not deleted — other users holding the same track in their playlists are unaffected.
